The rise of the present-day Toyota CJ7 looks fashionable and elegant

Toyota revealed that it will present a new SUV in the United States. This car will be assembled at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama. At present, the plant is under construction and begins production in 2021.

The factory was originally designed to build the Toyota Corolla, but the company turned inward "responding to changing market demand and increasing consumer appetite for the ever-popular SUV segment. Meanwhile, Toyota is still reluctant to reveal its specifications.

Despite changes, the Corolla will continue to be produced at the company's factory in Blue Springs, Mississippi. The Mazda Toyota Manufacturing factory is scheduled to build up to 150,000 Corollas every year. However, Corolla sales in the United States dropped from 360,483 units in 2016 to assemble Corolla.

Details about the model will be released later, but Toyota calls the vehicle a new SUV that has not been announced. This car is an entirely new vehicle from the crossover line and the existing Toyota SUV range, such as CH-R, RAV4, Highlander, 4Runner, Sequoia and Land Cruiser.

Previously, Toyota officials in the United States had revealed that the FT-4X concept car could enter production. The model was introduced at the 2017 New York Auto Show and features a box-style SUV and all-wheel drive. This model has a design similar to its predecessor, the Toyota CJ7, but has a more modern appearance.

Regardless of what Toyota built at the plant, the facility will have an annual capacity of up to 300,000 units. That capacity will be divided equally between Toyota and Mazda.
